# How to Use a Custom Background Photo

You can upload and use any photo as a custom background for your video.

1\. Click the **“Background”** button in the purple edit bar at the top of the video editor.

Note: You are unable to select a custom background with the Reflection or Grace theme applied as they use each photo as it’s own blurred background.

2\. From inside the background selection drawer, click **“Upload Background”.**

3. Here, you will see all of your uploaded photos, or you can upload a new image. Select the photo you wish to use as your background. Our editor will crop and size your photo to work as a background across all tributes. Name and save your background, and then you can apply it to your slideshow. You can also apply it to any title slides.


A landscape image that is not too busy is generally recomended to as not to pull focus from the key photos that will animate in the slideshow over the top.
